1. Planned Event
2. Actual Event
1. Planned Event:
Planned events are those which are expected to happen at a specified time, at right partner, at right location and at right measurement.
For example:
A Customer ordered for 10 numbers of canon camera and delivery for the same is being scheduled on 30th June. This is a planned event which is expected to happen on 30th June.
So any action which is expected to occur under given conditions is called a Planned Event.
We have planned event for customer delivery but how will the preceding or subsequent events be planned on SAP EM?
Preceding events will be determined from source system and sent to SAP EM system or on creating a delivery creation event, the dates of all other subsequent events will be planned by the SAP EM system itself.
What I mean by “dates of all other subsequent events will be determined by the SAP EM system” is:
- An expected picking date and time will be scheduled to be one day after delivery creation.
- An expected loading date and time will be scheduled to be one day after picking completed.
- An expected PGI date and time will be scheduled to be one day after loading end.
- An expected customer delivery will be scheduled to be 3 days after PGI.
So, this is how all the preceding or subsequent events will be automatically planned by SAP EM system.
Other than planned date and time, SAP EM system can also update about:
- Which material will be delivered to customer?
- Requested quantity to be delivered?
- Which transportation partner picks the material and delivers to customer?
- From which location will the material be picked from?
So, these kind of data can be updated into SAP EM system and also you can update your customer defined data based on your client requirements.
2. Actual Event:
Actual events are those which happens when an action is actually executed or created or completed. It could be against planned date and time or it couldn’t.
Therefore, when the actual event happens for picking, loading, PGI and delivery to customer, it goes and updates in SAP EM system with actual date and time along with other data like material, quantity, transportation partner, location etc.
Have a look at the previous example (in planned event) where customer delivery was scheduled on 30th June. Suppose the actual delivery happens on or before or after 30th June, then system will update the actual date & time of delivery in SAP EM. This is an actual event.
From where does SAP EM system gets data or receives data?
System integration receives data from different system environments or can also be manually updated. For example, it can receive data in the below ways:
- From SAP ECC, from SAP Transportation Management and from Non-SAP Systems automatically.
- If vendor or transportation team sends data through email to customer service coordinator or shipment team, then they can log into SAP EM system and manually enter actual date and time and other data directly into event handler.
